Team Prayer Day

The view from the Life House in Abbotsford. It was cozy warm inside as our Greater Vancouver Youth Unlimited staff team gathered today to worship, to pray and to be together.

God speaks when we listen. He spoke to my heart today. Here are a few words and concepts that I am absorbing from today:

Holistic calling

The Holy Spirit's gentle and beautiful strength

Drop-in today!

We had a wonderful full and busy day at Drop-in today. I have a few photos for you to see and a few words to share the unseen.

The unseen:
God at work in a counselling session with a mom,
a impromptu one on one with the dad's worker and a young dad,
numerous heart to heart connections between staff, volunteers and moms,
the ongoing planning conversations for the upcoming christmas dinner party,
and all the hugs and kisses at play time.

An unseen story from today:
I asked a mom how she did it all on her own. She said, "I'm tired, but it's my motivation that keeps me going!" She shared that her motivation is her five year plan for continuing education. She inspired me today.

Why Young Moms?

"Thank you for believing in me before I believed in myself." - Kobi Yamada. This quote puts into words what I love about working with young moms. There is a change that takes place at a deep spiritual level when someone believes in you. I have the privilege of being in relationship with young moms that allow me to believe in them.

I believe that young moms are amazing mothers. Age, economic status, and family composition do not define parenting ability. The greatest predictor of successful parenting in young moms is positive support. I have the opportunity to be part of the support system for young families and it is an incredible privilege.
